What began as a local production operation has quickly grown into national demand in a wide variety of industries. We’re proud to be the preferred brand for such a range of customers who turn to Peter Cremer and nexsol to help satisfy their energy needs.
City of Cincinnati
A long-time partner of Cincinnati-based Peter Cremer North America, Cincinnati Metro was the first to use nexsol across its entire bus line. In fact, as the largest user of biodiesel among national transit companies, they are committing their lines to a “warm season” blend of nexsol rated at B70 across all of its 390 buses. That means 70% of the fuel used to power the buses is pure nexsol biodiesel.
City of Columbus
Beginning January, 2006, the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) in Columbus, Ohio, began testing nexsol usage in their buses using in-ground tank blending. By April, their entire fleet of 234 buses switched to a B20 blend of nexsol biodiesel. In May B50 and June, the blend was increased to B90 which effectively reduced their petroleum dependence to a mere 10% during the warmer months. COTA and Ohio benefit from using this fuel by being grown and processed locally, reduced air emissions, fewer mechanical problems, and with the blender excise tax credit less expensive. Columbus has solidified its long-term fuel plan to include nexsol, all season long.
According to Don Makirus, Director of Vehicle Maintenance and Engineering of COTA, “The experience for us is practically seamless; it has been a learning experience for the mechanics, customers, and vehicle manufactures. COTA receives calls from all over the country asking how to blend, use, and mange a soy-based fuel in their fleet. COTA has made the commitment and is leading the country in the volume and blend levels in transit and will continue to find ways to optimize the fuel through external research and University support projects."
DaimlerChrysler
Starting with the 2005 model year Jeep® Liberty Common Rail Diesel SUVs, DaimlerChrylser solidified an agreement by which all vehicles receive a B5 factory fill of nexsol biodiesel. Additional agreements are in the works to establish an even higher blend across upcoming models.
event coverage
nexsol is the star attraction at the 2006 Ohio Ag Day. Media and guests descended upon the grounds where nexsol is produced to celebrate this annual event. In attendance were Ohio Governor Bob Taft, Ohio Department of Agriculture Director Fred L. Dailey, DaimlerChrysler, members of the National Biodiesel Board and area farmers. Together they celebrated the advantages of nexsol used not only in the entire bus transit lines of Cincinnati but also in the factory fill of new DaimlerChrysler diesel-based SUVs.
